Picking the name for this website was very difficult. I wanted to convey an attitude of what we all want to be, and to have some ‘umph’ to show an intent to be direct and practical. Also, I realized that every vet I have ever met once had a passion, a drive, a motivation and love for the field of veterinary medicine and most, at some point, lost it.

Every vet is a KICK ASS VET on the inside, one that cares, wants to help and care for animals, and wants to do the best job they can. By calling this KICK ASS VETS, I hope to remind and motivate people to find themselves again, find that passion and drive again, and unleash their inner KICK ASS VET!

Mice symbolize being meek, quiet and in-assertive, and also for surviving in tough conditions. This is how veterinarians, especially associate veterinarians, often live their life. We don’t stand up for ourselves to our clients, and we don’t stand up for ourselves to our bosses and managers. We are over-worked and underpaid, and we just quietly tough it out, until we completely burn out.

Giving the mouse a strong arm symbolizes that we are going to empower those that feel meek, feel in-assertive or those that lack confidence. We are going to give associate vets a voice and a power! The logo symbolizes taking control ourselves to make our situations better!

Any veterinarian worth their salt knows that a good tech/nurse is a gem to hold on to. Nurses/techs are amazing, they support us medically and emotionally, they keep us organized and on track, they find things for us (even if it is right on the counter in front of us), and they provide amazing care to our patients.

Most of the information provided in KICK ASS VETS is worded towards veterinarys, but designed for both vets and nurses/techs, and some of the information and tools are relevant across various job sectors as well. Nurses/Techs are always welcome to read, watch, consume any information on KICK ASS VETS, and are always welcome to pursue personal consulting. At KICK ASS VETS we LOVE our nurses and techs, and we will also be providing some nurse specific information as well.

KICK ASS VETS was created to help vets be empowered to take control of their lives and careers. A big part of this is being appropriately compensated for your time! Since a huge amount of time and effort and resources goes into creating and maintaining KICK ASS VETS, we have provided the ability for individuals to donate to help off-set the costs of running and maintaining the site. We try to provide as much free content as possible, and allow individuals to say 'thank you' either with content, or financial contributions, as their life allows.

Any style of content you wish to contribute is welcomed whether it is a personal story regarding one of our blog topics, a new blog topic, webinars, artwork, etc. If you create it, we will do our best to find a place for it!
